Make Your Pets Smile with Dog & Cat Teeth Cleaning in Granger, IN

According to the American Veterinary Dental Society, more than 85% of dogs and cats over four years of age have some degree of periodontal disease. Periodontal disease results from plaque buildup, which in turn allows bacteria to live on the surface of the teeth, usually along the gum line. Periodontal disease leads to inflammation of the gum tissue and infection of the bone, allowing bacteria into the blood stream where they can cause kidney, heart, liver, brain, and lung disease. At Kryder & Harr Veterinary Clinic, our goal is to prevent periodontal disease through home dental care and regular teeth cleaning and treat it aggressively with high quality veterinary dentistry. We have a designated dental suite that is maintained by our dental team to provide the best quality care for your pet.

Recommendations for Pet Dental Care

We recommend annual to semi-annual exams based on age, current dental health, and potential history of dental problems. During these exams, we will make recommendations for home care, such as brushing your dog or cat’s teeth, antiseptic sprays for pets, prescription treats, and so on. If problems are noted, we will discuss treatment options and provide an estimate for any recommended dental procedures. Dog and cat teeth cleanings, as well as any treatments performed, are always done under anesthesia. Proper cleaning and treatments cannot be done awake. For that matter, a complete oral exam cannot either. Please make sure to schedule the dental procedure on a day you can readily be reached by phone. In the event problems are identified and need treatment we will be able to discuss with you. If recommended, your veterinarian or one of our technicians will discuss with you what exactly a “dental” entails and what you should expect when your pet is recovering.
