Recommendations for Pet Dental Care
We recommend annual to semi-annual exams based on age, current dental health, and potential history of dental problems. During these exams, we will make recommendations for home care, such as brushing your dog or cat’s teeth, antiseptic sprays for pets, prescription treats, and so on. If problems are noted, we will discuss treatment options and provide an estimate for any recommended dental procedures. Dog and cat teeth cleanings, as well as any treatments performed, are always done under anesthesia. Proper cleaning and treatments cannot be done awake. For that matter, a complete oral exam cannot either. Please make sure to schedule the dental procedure on a day you can readily be reached by phone. In the event problems are identified and need treatment we will be able to discuss with you. If recommended, your veterinarian or one of our technicians will discuss with you what exactly a “dental” entails and what you should expect when your pet is recovering.
